ahh for new music.

// January 20th, 2005 // 2 Comments » // music

thought i’d share some great new music with all of you. the links in here will take you to the artist in the itunes music store, if you don’t have itunes by now… umm… you need to talk with a counselor. word.

owen
nearest i can tell this is some of the members of american football… truly great mellow stuff. some unique rhythms as well. note to self is probably one of favorites though there are many others on other albums as well.

some other favorites by owen:
that mouth
gazebo
poor souls
never meant

the honorary title
pretty good stuff here. nice but slightly monotonic, and yet a cool beat and great vocals… nice and smokey, just the way i like, and now some songs:
frame by frame
bridge and tunnel
everything i once had
cut short

blue merle
holy crap. now this is good stuff. picture coldplay and dave matthews… woowoo. i haven’t found alot of this stuff, just a couple of songs so i’ll just link their name right up.

the format
ok, by now, if you know me, you should know i’ve been talking about this band for a while, all the songs aren’t good but there’s a majority of them on the new disc that are great. think happy bouncy rockin good stuff. if you know what i mean.

trent dabbs
sweet souther voices. a little poppy, but good melodies and lyrics, a little jay clifford and rufus wainwright in this guy.

have at it kids. let me know what you think.

cold factor.

holy crap. can you believe how cold it is out. my fingers are still stiff from just coming in the door. and now when i open the door to let daisy out to peeps she can be 10ft from the door and i can still see her breath.

i’m not one who cares for cold, but i think heather puts it best when she says ‘if it’s going to be cold it might as well be pretty’. and by pretty she means there better be snow on the ground. i totally agree with her and have probably used that line somewhere to someone who thought — hmm… i think heather always says that. oh well, so that isn’t my original saying. doesn’t mean it’s not good.

i think the cold does things to people. either they’re more awake (me) or their more tired and prone to get sick (heather). heather’s been sick for coming up on a week and half i think now. she was sick last time this year too… right after our wedding, which sucked for obvious reasons and other not so obvious.

it’s hard to believe that in less than one year our lives have changed so much, we’ve been married, and i’ve had the privilege of getting to know all of her friends better, and i have to say… she picks some good ones (you guy’s are all so much fun to hang out with). we’ve been through 10’s of thousands of dollars worth of eye surgeries, probably $1000+ worth of “other medications” and many different trials birth control… all of which ended poorly. don’t worry, if you’re reading this and don’t know heather, her eyes are now fine (so far, knock on wood) and she can see at about a 20/25 level with some pretty thick glasses.

but despite all this we’ve still been able to (somehow) afford a beautiful house in our favorite part of town and have all these trees around us… we really do feel so lucky to have all this all before the age of 23… we have certainly been blessed.

anyway, reminiscing. on another topic:

i think our neighbors are pretty cool people, i’m waiting for the right time for us to get together… perhaps sometime when wade and erika and phil come over… should be fun. well. talk to you later folks.

the fry-daddy

// January 10th, 2005 // 3 Comments » // general

i received a fry-daddy from heather’s parents for my birthday… lord know i’ve wanted one for a while. little did i know that i would soon be able to make fries… that rival mcdonald’s. that’s right… that’s no joke. i made some for heather and i last night, and i think heather would vouch for me when i say: “holy crap, those are awesome”. i think next i’ll try some onion rings. wade and erica: want some fries next time you’re over? let me know if anyone has any good stuff to fry k?
